What Ian Rankin Can Teach Us.
ByAaargh. Done it again. Another 9 days gone with no posts. Aah Well, Lets not dwell on such things. I have a feeling that I am going to be adding a few more in the next week. I just have so much that I want to talk about.
I have a post to make in response to a challenge where I have to write 25 things about me. I’m writing this up so that I can’t go back on accepting the challenge. I also want to make a post regarding Alex Jeffreys Coaching Program, namely the latest module I’ve listened to – Triple Threat Affiliate. This module blew me away. Something just sounded different in Alex’s voice. Or maybe I just got it???
But those are for another day. Today I just want to type up a very small news item that I noticed in one of the tabloids. We should all take what we need out of it. Nothing else to add –
“Millionaire author Ian Rankin raked in just £200 from his first novel it emerged last night.
The Rebus writer is believed to have coined in at least £3.2 million last year alone.
But he confessed to Scots actor pal Alan Cumming, 44, for a foreign TV show that he made a pittance from his debut offering.
Rankin, 48, told him: “The first book I got £200, the second book I got £600. And so it went like that for some time. But I kept writing better and better books. It was around 1998 before I could afford to buy a flat in Edinburgh” -End Article.
So why tell you this and what do I get out of it?
I think my fellow students will see what I see.
A writer now regarded as one of the best and most succesful in the UK is only that because he persevered. He could have given up but he didn’t, he got better as he learned and now he is where he wants to be.
Remember this before you give up your dreams!
Andy

Hi Andy,
Think the moral of the story is that as time goes on, the more you produce and the more people see you out there. The more they will begin to trust you, then your following will grow and the more product you will sell. Great post mate.
Best regards,
Paul D.

Hey Andy,
I’ve been getting a bit behind on blog posts too, I rey and add at least one blog post into my plan each week, two if possible.
Anyway, yes I see it as you do Andy, and I have no intention of ever giving up, as I’m sure you don’t either.
You’ve just got to remain focused even when the going gets a little tough. And that is what our goals are for.
Check ya later mate,
Paul.

hey Andy,
What the story tells me? First and foremost to never give up and taking into account, that I´m working on my professional outcome more than 5 years now it´s more than a promise to do so, isn´t it?!
Second, to realise and acknowlege that blog hopping is a real good method to get into contact with people and to invite them to have a peek on ones own blog, don´t you agree?
As member of Dean Hollands Newbies Internet Marketing group I´m proud to have a student of Alex Jeffreys in vision and maybe we can have a vivid and helpful contact and cooperation in one way or other!

Hey Andy,
Nice Post! Being a newbie and having to learn and complete so many new tasks can be discouraging. It takes so much work and all the while you’re seeing no results. But perseverance wins every time. Got to stick with it, I say!
Feel free to pop over and leave comments on my blog, will you?
Thanks,
Mike
Hi Andy,

Fail Forward! Looking forward to learning the 25 things about you.
Take care,

Hey Andy,
What a great point! It calls to mind two sayings that have been stuck in my head during this coaching program:
From Alex: “Don’t get it right, just get it going.”
Probably from Aesop’s fables, but still relevant: “Slow and steady wins the race.”
The key is consistent application of effort towards your goals. For every task we complete, we learn more while becoming more successful in the process. I’m just starting to see some results from things I put in place over a month ago, and it’s exciting to know that I’ll be seeing even greater results next month from what I am doing today!
