Bristol Visit Changes Life! How Many Folks Will Ever Say That?

By

Wow! Where do I start?

This has been a truly excellent week for me and I wanted to share my experiences with my regular readers.

Several weeks ago I was chatting to Tony Shepherd on Skype, who mentioned to me that the LFM Workshop in Bristol was taking place in May. I decided right then that I would be doing my best to attend this event, especially when Tony told me of the marketers who would be attending.

And due to the continuing uncertainty caused by the volcanic ash cloud I decided that my best course of action would be to drive to Bristol.  Now I knew that it was an 8 hour drive but even if it had been 20 hours it wouldn’t have stopped me.

And boy, am I glad that I went!

By the Thursday evening I knew that the whole journey and initial expense had been worth it.

I got a chance to meet up with my online buddies James Howard and Sean Beardmore, great to meet you guys!

I had an excellent chat with Cindy Battye of Affiliate Silver Bullet and Clickbank Pirate fame. (sorry about the quality of some of the photos)

I also briefly chatted to JP Schoeffel (SiteProfitBot amongst many others) and the promoters Robert Puddy and Donna Fox .

But perhaps, most importantly for me, I met and chatted to Phil Henderson of StupidlySimpleSEO.com. The information that he had for me could be the difference between hundreds a month and thousands a month. I will pass this info on to you all in due course once I have tested it out a bit more.

And other than Phil, the one guy who certainly knows how to make an impression is the unbelievably entertaining Jonny Andrews. He spent a bit of time telling me about his adventures in Aberdeen as a student. By the end of it the whole bar had gone quiet as Jonny was so loud. I was in stitches with it, and the story was just as funny on Saturday night as well. :)

And that was just Thursday night!!

I want to share with you some of the info that I learnt from the speakers including Omar Martin, Sterling Valentine, Simon Leung, Martin Avis, Jani G amongst others as well as tell you about the good friends that I have met and made including Tony Newton of Blogflipz fame and David Chamberlain (Remember that name) as well as some of the main players like John Thornhill, Dave Nicholson, Alex Jeffreys, Matt Garrett, Soren Jordensen….the list goes on.

And let me tell you. These guys can drink!!

I will share more over the next couple of days as well as a personal revelation (or revolution) for me. There is just so much to tell from an incredible 4 days.

Stay Tuned!

    Hi Nikki,

It was definitely a pleasure to meet you on Saturday as well. And the drive was actually quite good. I was buzzing with the potential of what I had learned and how to put it to good use.

I look forward to getting some more emails from you in the future. I can see you using Martin Avis’s tactics to very good effect, especially with the personality that you have and your writing style.

Your blog and your ebook are good examples of that.

    Keep in touch.

    Andy

    Hey Andy,

Just saw this on Facebook so thought I’d jump on over.

It looks as though Bristol was a blast and it’s a shame I couldn’t make it. I am so pleased you got a lot out of the experience and that the 8 hour drive was worthwhile!

I felt similar to you when I attended my first workshop last October.

There is nothing like meeting your fellow marketers in the flesh and when speaking to those who are seemingly light years ahead in terms of status and earnings, it doesn’t seem that unachieveable.

Hopefully we’ll get the chance to meet at an event in the not too distant future!

  6. hey Andy,

Hope you are well mate and recovered from the Weekend.

I know the effect the weekend had on you, it was an inspirational and motivating event for sure. I cant wait for the videos from the VIP dinner we attended on Friday.

Sure we will talk soon and even though you didn’t fly on a plane and took the opportunity to drive, sounds like you were flying back on Sunday!

    Take care

  7. AndyM121 says:

    Thanks David,

You are absolutely right. We need to remember that this is still a flesh
and bones business. Of course you can make it in this business
without ever meeting anybody but no matter what industry you are
in, people work with people that they know, like and trust, (How many times
did I hear that this weekend?)

So to anyone swithering about going to an event, worrying about the cost, or just
not sure for whatever reason just let me say this – Do it, and make the most of it!

    Andy

  8. Paul Lear says:

    Hi Andy,

Great to hear about your your first IM event, it sounds like I missed out on a great weekend and some jaw dropping information…

I guess I’ll have to wait until you share some of it with us. :)

It really seems like you made sure you got as much out of it as possible, and didn’t let any nerves get in the way… Great stuff! ;)

When I went to my first event last year I’m sorry to say my nerves kind of got the better of me, so I didn’t speak to as many people as I would of liked to.

I’ll have to work on that for when I attend the next one.

    Talk soon,

    Paul

  9. AndyM121 says:

It was a grand weekend Paul. We’ll maybe meet at the next one though.

As someone who is usually incredibly shy I just decided to go for it and speak to who I could. After all if
this is going to go pear shaped then it should do so after you have made an effort.

I know its easy to say but if you don’t then nerves will always get the better of you.

Be good if we can double team at some event in the future.

    Andy

  10. Sally Neill says:

Hey Andy, I bet that hotel makes a fortune from the alcohol sold alone! Looks like your met lots of people who can help grow your business, Sally :)

  11. Paul Lear says:

    Hi Andy,

You’re exactly right there mate, the fact that I had a migraine on the main networking night, and didn’t have that much to drink didn’t help things… I’m always more relaxed after a few beers, as most people are. ;)

I did feel much more confident after a few beers, but my pounding head forced me to leave early.

I’m sure it would be a much better experience for me knowing that I’m going to be meeting you and some of the others there, who I speak with regularly.

I’m sure I’ll definitely be meeting you in person at some point anyway, its just a matter of time. :)

    Talk soon,

    Paul

  12. Rick Byrd says:

    Andy:

Wow, an 8 hour drive. I bet you listened to every song on the radio over and over again during those 8 hours.

Anyway, it sounds you had a blast and made some great contacts.

I am a current student of Alex’s 3.0 class and I look forward to attending some of the live events and meet people face to face and develop new relationships.

I look forward to hearing more about what you learned at Bristol.

    - Rick

  13. AndyM121 says:

    Hi Sally,

You’re not kidding. I watched one guy alone pay for the repainting of the whole hotel :)

Certainly not the cheapest place I’ve been. Think they should introduce price zones in the UK so like with time zones you know when you are going into the next one and can adapt accordingly!

  14. AndyM121 says:

    Hi Rick,

Depends on what radio station you listen to I suppose. :)

One of those “yoof” stations then probably but I listen to the grown up stations now. I remember listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Freebird a few times. That was almost the whole trip there! (Oldies joke)

    Andy

  15. Hey Andy,

Looks like you had a great time and meeting so many people that can help you in your business.

To go to these events seems to be the way to network in this industry and to bring your business to the next level.

    Great photos

    Glyn

  16. Simon Croft says:

    Hi Andy,

Sound like Bristol was fun, not heard one bad comment about it yet, definitely going to put it in my diary for next year. Networking at the seminars is probably one of the most important aspects of attending them, might get a bit ‘starstruck’though as I am in total awe of some of these guys.

    Simon

  17. Hey Andy

    You alright mate

Wow looks like you had a great time in Bristol pity I didnt get a chance to meet you.

Looks like there were a lot of big marketers there, did you learn much?

Nice one pal speak soon yeah

    cheers

    marcus

  18. AndyM121 says:

    Thanks Glyn,

    And you are spot on.

I don’t think you realise how important these seminars are until you
are actually at one and you notice how close knit the whole
    community is.

    Andy

  19. AndyM121 says:

    Hi Simon,

I definitely hope they do the event again next year. The way Robert and Donna
were talking they don’t know if it there will be one or not.

And there’s no need to be starstruck with them though as most of them
started in the same way and know how tough it is at the beginning.

    Andy

  20. AndyM121 says:

    Hey Marcus,

It would have been great if you had been there as well.

Maybe one day we’ll both be at the same event! I definitely
intend to make more this year even just to catch up with some
    of the folks I met.

And I learnt plenty. Just gotta put it into practice.

Biggest thing I learnt was not to overcomplicate things!

    Andy
